I have now found out about the hat craze which happend in 1550-1850. At that time people wanted beaver fur hats because they were very fashionable and kept you warm but the catch to beaver fur hats was that some people that made them went crazy because of the mercury that they used to make the beaver skins not rot and make it smell bad. because the beavers had soft yet resiliant fur and it would be water proof. Yes there is something comparable to the hat craze. Its apple stores, because there's computers and phones and ipads and ipods and they come out with a new iPad or iPhone every few months and there is almost no difference like you said ISHEEP! . It affected New France because it acted as a port for France to send iron goods it was also the economy(job) of New France the France used cour des bois(runners of the woods) as there middle men. the north west company took over the French trade network from 1760-1821. another reason it affected New France because almost all of the beavers were killed for there pelts
